Black Life Matters (From Womb to Tomb)
As a pastor or ministry leader how do you build a foundation of life in your church and community? God created each one of us in His image and intended for all human lives to matter and to thrive.
Black lives have been impacted and even cut short as a result of criminal justice, health care, economic and educational systemic injustice. But there is another system of injustice in our neighborhoods – abortion clinics. Do you realize that since the passing of Roe v. Wade in 1973, that 23 million Black and Brown babies have been aborted.
The June 2022 Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade is an opportunity for the NBF and our churches to minister to the Black family, mothers, fathers and children?
The NBF believes in the sanctity of all human life. We believe in the inestimable worth of the preborn, young, aged, and physically or mentally impaired person. That is why we are standing up, speaking out and strategizing in partnership with Breath of Life LLC (Cincinatti, OH), the Douglas Leadership Institute and other churches to unleash a ministry of life in our communities.
This vision looks like churches starting pregnancy resource life centers, constructing housing initiatives for mothers with children, promoting foster care and adoption and thousands of “life lieutenants” being raised and released from our local churches to make impact right where they live, work and play.
Apostle Arnold and Barbara Culbreath of People’s Church (Cincinnati) have several decades of experience in the life movement. They are national blazers and servants to the Black community and both spoke at the first Choose Life Forum sponsored by the NBF and help at Embassy Center Milwaukee (formerly called Parklawn AG Church). 40 local pastors attended and were challenged to carry the message of life from the womb to the tomb.
For too long, the Church has been silent and absent from leadership in this traumatic issue. Satan’s tactic is to politicize abortion so people don’t want to touch the topic. The NBF is seeking to equip our churches and leaders to “biblicize” the sin of abortion, so we can address it with what God has to say.

Lastly, we need to be prayerful for mothers, children and families. We also need intercessors to pray for the NBF regularly as we take this bold and biblical position.
