NBF and SUM Announce Partnership

The National Black Fellowship is launching cohort campuses of SUM Bible College and Theological Seminary across the country in NBF member churches.  NBF President, Walter Harvey and Joe Smotherman, NBF Southwest Region Director attended the letter of intent signing ceremony at SUM in June, along with SUM Chancellor, George Neau and college leadership.  This new partnership now allows any minister or church affiliated with the NBF to join in this movement of hope and raise up next generation Christian leaders right at their own location and community or they can attend any of the SUM campuses across the country, including the NBF headquarter location in Milwaukee, WI.

Additional benefits of this partnership is that NBF students can earn a Bachelor’s Degree in as soon as 3 years. The professors are ethnically diverse and are some of the best from around the country.  Classes are offered online and are live. Which means you can take your classes from anywhere. This allows you to see and interact with your professors and peers while attending class. Classes are currently offered both days and evenings.  Local churches and their students will also benefit by the hands-on ministry training and labor of love hours offered within their own churches and the weekly chapels with Visionary Leaders from the NBF. These cohorts offer personal mentoring as well.

NBF President, Bishop Walter Harvey says, “The vision of the NBF is to develop and deploy African American leaders, so this partnership will allow us to stay on mission, to empower and commission our young leaders to plant churches and transform communities.  Every student will also attend the yearly Missions trip to Mardi Gras in February where they will go to the streets and pray with and evangelize the lost. This year we prayed for over 10,00 people, had 529 Salvations, and over 100 people got healed on the streets of Mardi Gras! This ministry needs to be duplicated in the communities and neighborhoods where our NBF ministers and churches are located.”

The Mission of SUM is to offer an affordable, high quality, theological education to those called into the any of the five-fold ministry.  SUM-MKE combines academic instruction with practical hands-on ministry and personal mentorship. SUM is an Accredited College where students can earn Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies, Master of Divinity, Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies or Christian Leadership and soon Doctorate degrees.  The NBF/SUM partnership does offer Financial Aid.
